Yesterday marked a historic day for former England striker-turned pundit Gary Lineker. Not only was it 25 years since he scored in the World Cup against Ireland, it was also the anniversary of the day he suffered the severe consequences of a stomach bug.
The former England striker scored eight minutes into Ireland's encounter with Bobby Robson's England but was in clear discomfort shortly afterwards. Yesterday Independent.ie rolled back the years to reflect on that day for Gary and he responded in brilliant fashion.
Not only did he tweet a link to our story with the words: "Shat on video. Shat on 25th anniversary. Shat on pooing," he also tweeted an emoji of a stool!
At the time, Lineker admitted that he was suffering from a stomach bug during the game.

"He's got stomach cramps or something", said Robson afterwards. "We'll have to have a look at him over the next few days."
Lineker explained: "I've just got a funny stomach. I’ve had it for a few days."
It was 20 years after the game before Lineker explained that he had experienced a mishap.
“Unless you know, you wouldn’t know,” the Guardian quotes Lineker as saying, “but when you know, you do know.
“I was very fortunate it rained that night… it was messy.”
This video proves that he wasn't lying:
