From golf ball to Cannonball for Padraig Harrington on supercar road trip
Irish golfer Padraig Harrington with be leaving the fairways for the motorways when he takes part in this year's Cannonball road trip.
It was back to the future for the famous sportsman as he got to check out an authentic Delorean car at the launch of the charity event in aid of the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
Each year, a host of famous faces don fancy dress and pack into 160 of the world's finest supercars to take part in a road-trip across the country, with lots of parties and pit stops along the way.
"I am proud to be an ambassador for the Make-A-Wish Foundation and delighted to be helping them launch this year's Cannonball event," Padraig said.
"The Cannonball road trip is sure to be a fantastic spectacle and I hope as many people as possible come out to enjoy the festivities while raising money for this worthy children's charity," he said.
This year's road trip will take place from September 11 to 13 and motoring fanatics will not be left disappointed as organisers have promised to thrill with the world's most luxurious cars.
More than 150,000 spectators will turn out to see cars from McLaren, Lamborghini, Ferrari, Aston Martin, Porsche, Masserati, Rolls Royce and Bentley on Irish roads throughout the weekend.
New to the 2015 event are the Pagani Zonda, Keonigsegg and Carrera GT, which are three of the most unique cars in the world.
They have a combined value of €5m and are being shipped into Ireland especially for the event.
The gleaming convoy will take in 900km of Irish roads through Dublin, Sligo, The Wild Atlantic Way, Killaloe, Killarney, the Ring of Kerry and Cahir before finishing in Wexford.
There will be parties at each stop with music, Brazilian dancers, confetti canons, local bands and lots of treats, thanks to Manhattan popcorn.
