One lucky gambler has a lot to be thankful to Everton striker Romelu Lukaku for – the Belgian international's winning goal for the Toffees tonight ensured a windfall of more than €62,000.

Roberto Martinez's side found themselves 2-0 down away to West Brom tonight, but a brace from Lukaku, including the winner six minutes from time not only gave the visitors all three points, it completed an incredible accumulator for one gambler.

A £5 bet with William Hill was hanging on the result at the Hawthorns, with the other five matches going to plan with the winning team identified with both sides scoring in each of the chosen games.

It must have made for nervy viewing when the Toffees trailed by two goals. The club has never before recovered from a 2-0 deficit to claim a Premier League win, but for one punter, it was perfect timing and ensured he collected £45,865.05.

Irish international David Meyler was an interesting observer in the game with so much at stake and was curious to know if the punter had cashed in on his winnings before the final game.
