'Darragh Maloney won't ask Eamon Dunphy what a spoofer is again' – Twitter reacts to 'bullshi**er' comment
You know the football season is back up and running when the RTE panel pull no punches in their post-match analysis and last night's Champions League coverage didn't disappoint.
Manchester United booked their place in the group stages of the competition with comprehensive 4-0 victory over Club Brugge, with Wayne Rooney claiming the match ball after rediscovering his scoring boots.
It was once again the discussion in studio which became more of a talking point, with Eamon Dunphy still unimpressed with Manchester United and their manager Louis van Gaal.
“They’re a one temp team and they’ve no gears. There’s time when you need a player with experience like Bastian Schweinsteiger or Michael Carrick but you need to up the tempo,” he said Dunphy.
“You need a game changer. That’s what United don’t have.”
Despite the margin of victory, he again re-iterated his stance that Van Gaal is a "spoofer" anda "bullshi**er", which drew a quick response from host Darragh Maloney.
“I’m not having that… I know it’s after the watershed," he said, clearly unimpressed with Dunphy's choice of language.
Dunphy, who apologised after swearing live on air during the 2014 World Cup, appeared undeterred and social media was awash with reaction to the panel.
Honestly believe Darragh Maloney is a better pundit than any of the other 3, Dunphy and Giles are ridiculous....— ◢◤ Cilliañ Døylê ◢◤ (@CillianDoyle13) August 26, 2015
Darragh Maloney rightly fed up with Dunphy.— Keith H (@maclaithimh) August 26, 2015
Only bearable thing about RTE's coverage of Champions League is Darragh Maloney though— Paul (@paulpmcg) August 26, 2015
