GAA pundit Joe Brolly landed himself in hot water after an ill-judged comment about his colleague Marty Morrissey.

Brolly, who was commenting ahead of Cavan’s clash against Monaghan, stunned ‘Sunday Game’ presenter Michael Lyster when he compared Cavan to popular presenter Morrissey – and not in a favourable way.

“Some people have said that Cavan football is as ugly as Marty Morrissey,” he said before adding: “I should apologise ... to the people of Cavan for that.”

Brolly said sorry for his remarks at half time in the game, adding: “I want to say that what I said about Marty Morrissey was said in a spirit of affection not literally.”
