Hooker Davy McGregor suffered a very nasty ear injury last night that required a visit to a plastic surgeon surgeon.

The former Ulster hooker was capped at U20 level and now plays for Heriot's Rugby Club in Scotland.

Yesterday he took part in an exhibition game against the Barbarians in Edinburgh and sustained the horrific injury in an accidental clash with an opponent's hip.

"Pleasure to play against the @Barbarian_FC this eve at goldie. Didn't finish how i would have liked. #WarWounds," he posted on his Twitter account afterwards.

The aftermath of the challenge did not make for pretty viewing.
