UCD goalkeeper Seamus Kelly has signed for English Third Division side Cardiff City and is included in the side to face Manchester City in a friendly tonight.

The 24-year-old from Mucklagh, Tullamore, was an ever-present in the UCD side last season.

The former Offaly minor footballer, a brother of senior 'keeper Padraig has impressed in matches against Port Vale, Stoke and Macclesfield.

Finn Harps goalkeeper Jody Byrne has signed for Premier Division new boys Waterford United.

Byrne covered for the injured Michael Devine at the start of last season and will be in competition with the former youth international for the No.1 jersey.

Blues boss Tommy Lynch hopes to complete the signing of striker Barry Wood at the weekend having agreed personal terms today and hopes to sign Millwall's Dean Canonville on loan.

However, he has been pipped by English Division Two side Brentford for Slough Town striker Lloyd Owusu.

Irish U-21 goalkeeper Derek O'Connor is currently on trial at Finn Park as manager Charlie McGeever bids to replace Byrne.

John Collins completed his £2.5m move from Monaco to Everton knowing he will almost certainly be paired in Everton's new-look midfield with Olivier Dacourt, who also signed for £2.5m from Strasbourg.

Keith Branagan will miss the start of Bolton's Division One campaign because of injury.

Bray will face Newcastle United in the Carlisle Grounds next Wednesday (7.45). Tickets will be available for the game at the ground from 12.0 to 3.0 this weekend.
