Jamie Heaslip says no to Toulon - French media reports
Jamie Heaslip has turned down an opportunity to join reigning Heineken Cup champions Toulon, according to French newspaper Midi Olympique.
Midi Olympique, who broke the news last year of Jonny Sexton's move to Racing Metro, is reporting that Leigh Halfpenny will move to Toulon but Jamie Heaslip will not.
Heaslip travelled to Toulon over the festive period to meet with club officials and a deal was expected to be close but that now appears to have fallen through.
The Heaslip contract saga will certainly be an interesting subplot when Leinster travel to Toulon in April for their Heineken Cup quarter-final clash.
Leinster chief Mick Dawson said last week that he expected news on Heaslip's future in the coming days and the IRFU will be hoping to secure his signature before the Six Nations begins.
Sources have told us that Toulon are not giving up on Heaslip and negotiations are ongoing.
The French paper says Leigh Halfpenny will be paid €480k when he joins Jonny Wilkinson and co in the south of France.
