Ireland's Caroline Ryan taken to hospital with suspected shoulder injury
Ireland's Caroline Ryan was taken to hospital for assessments on a suspected shoulder injury after a crash in the points race on the penultimate day of the Track Cycling World Championships in London.
Ryan required medical attention after a crash in the latter stages of the points race won by Katarzyna Pawlowska of Poland. Emily Nelson of Britain was fifth.
Ryan, who won a bronze medal in the event in Melbourne four years ago, was taken away on a stretcher wearing a neck brace after landing heavily on the steep banking following a collision with Hong Kong's Yao Pang.
The Irish team said she did not lose consciousness and later revealed more details of Ryan's injuries would be announced when known.
