The Irish Athletic Boxing Association have dismissed suggestions that Katie Taylor was 'relegated' to the National Stadium gym.
The Olympic champion was due to meet Antrim's Kurt Walker on an Ireland v Lithuania card on Wednesday, but the bout between Taylor and the Irish male bantamweight champion went ahead before the 4pm start in the adjacent National Stadium.
Irish interim head coach Zaur Antia explained that Taylor had requested the bout be held an hour earlier as she had a personal appointment.
"I never refuse anything that Katie asks," Antia said.
"She is unique, the Olympic champion, the world champion. She never asks for anything difficult. We were happy to facilitate her."
