Walsh added to growing Cats injury list
HURLER of the Year Tommy Walsh is the latest player to join the lengthening list of injured players in the Kilkenny camp.
The Tullaroan defender went off with an injured left shoulder during a Kilkenny senior league match yesterday, and was taken to hospital for tests.
Walsh sustained the injury during a second-half clash with county colleague Jackie Tyrrell. He played on for a while and didn't look in terrible discomfort, but came off 10 minutes from the end.
Ice was immediately applied to the shoulder and Walsh later left the grounds wearing a sling, though he suggested it was only a bit of bruising.
Meanwhile, Blackrock, the most decorated club in Cork senior hurling, are just 60 minutes away from relegation after they lost to Cloyne at Pairc Ui Chaoimh on Saturday night.
Nine points from the O’Sullivan brothers, Diarmuid and Paudie, ensured that the east Cork club won by 0-14 to 0-13. In the relegation final, Blackrock will play either Blarney or Bride Rovers.
Na Piarsaigh lost by 1-15 to 0-16 points to Midleton in their fourth-round tie. Justin McNulty is tonight expected to be ratified as the new Laois football manager. His name will go before a full meeting of the Laois County Board which is looking to replace Sean Dempsey.
