Wait over for Lavey

Lavey 1-13
St Anne's 0-7

Lavey of Derry took home the Phil McBride Cup for the first time after denying St Anne's of Waterford in the All-Ireland Junior Camogie Club Championship final replay in Ashbourne.

The Ulster champs made a blistering start as corner-forward, Paula McCloy, sent over two early points and player-of-the-match, Attracta McPeake, excelled in midfield.

Lavey led at the break, 0-6 to 0-4, but St Anne's hit back just after the interval with a Karen Kelly point.

Yet the golden goal came from a Derry stick as Helen O'Neill scored seven minutes after the restart to give Lavey a 1-7 to 0-5 lead.

Lavey then grew in confidence as they scored six valuable points to close out the victory.
