Vaughan caps Fins' triumph
WOLFE TONES 1-8
FINGALLIANS, managed by former Dublin footballer Mick Kennedy, lifted the title when finishing strongly to deny Meath's Wolfe Tones at Navan on Saturday.
After the sides had been level on eight occasions, Eanna Harrington edged Tones into the lead with eight minutes to go. However, the Swords side responded with two frees from Peter Daly before captain PJ Vaughan closed the scoring.
Stephen Sheppard made an impact for the Meath outfit with 1-3, the goal coming after 21 minutes. Dermot Vaughan and John Martin Sheridan shone for Fingallians and six points from the latter helped them lead by 0-7 to 1-3 at the break.
Wolfe Tones had Meath footballer Brian Meade as well as All-Ireland winner of the '90s, Donal Curtis, but the injured Eoghan Harrington was a loss. They were second best for most of the contest and the Dublin side deserved their win.
