A top Limerick official says "lessons have been learned" from the county's hurling controversy. In his annual report, secretary Mike O'Riordan said officials will do all they can to avoid a repeat of the bitter dispute which resulted from former manager Justin McCarthy's decision to axe several high-profile players at the end of 2009.
Meanwhile, the ladies football junior and senior club finals will go ahead at the weekend, weather permitting. The junior final between Caltra Cuans of Galway and Omagh St Endas is in Mullahoran on Saturday, while the senior final between Carnacon of Mayo and Inch Rovers (Cork) is fixed for Banagher on Sunday (both 2.0).
