DIT proved far too strong for a disappointing Westmeath side in their semi-final clash at a bitterly cold St Loman's Lakepoint Park in Mullingar.
The students led from the start and were well worth their five-point interval lead (1-7 to 1-2).
DIT's well-worked goal came in the 14th minute via David Treacy but that was quickly followed by a goal from a 20-metre free at the other end by Derek McNicholas.
The Dublin outfit continued to dominate on the change of ends and goals in the 61st minute from a free by Michael Maloney and, two minutes later, by substitute Willie Cullen, who had been on a matter of minutes, opened up a 14-point gap.
Ultimately, Niall O'Brien's late goal for Westmeath amounted to just a consolation score.
