Suspended Kelly to miss Fullen tussle

CONNACHT junior hurling club champions Calry-St Joseph's will be without Gearoid Kelly for next Saturday's All-Ireland quarter-final against British champions Fullen Gaels due to suspension.

Kelly received an eight-week ban after being red-carded following the melee that broke out close to the end of their Connacht final victory over Skehana of Galway.

His case was dealt with under the original referee's report. However, a separate investigation into how referee Kevin McGeeney was knocked to the ground during that scuffle has not yet been completed.

The two clubs were called to give evidence a week ago but have not heard their fate. It is believed both clubs could yet receive fines, based on a written report by the fourth official which was additional to the referee's report.

It is understood disciplinary chiefs will meet again later this week before completing their findings.
