Down maintained their 100pc record with Eoghan Sands coming off the bench to score two goals in Swords.

Fingal were held to just the one point in the final 20 minutes as the 2013 Christy Ring Cup champions brought their experience to bear.

The home team edged ahead on the quarter hour when Cillian O'Flynn accelerated through the middle before offloading to Andrew Richardson who hammered it home.

But points from Caolan Baillie and Donal Hughes saw Down lead by a point at the break, 0-9 to 1-5. And Conor O'Neill's snap shot opened up a four-point lead for the visitors two minutes after the interval.

A fine goal from Cillian O'Flynn on 44 minutes coupled with two quick points from Colm Foley and JM Sheridan restored the Fingal lead.

But Down fired in goals from Conor O'Prey (49) and Sands and drove home their advantage with a series of points from Hughes, Baillie and Conor Woods, before Baillie found the back of the net for a second time with a minute left.
