SEAN McGRATH capped a fine performance by scoring five points from frees as DIT beat DCU at St Claire's.

McGrath opened the scoring inside five minutes and DIT added two points before DCU got their first score from Mark Aylward.

The long-ball system didn't quite work for DIT, despite playing with the wind, as DCU's full-back Robert Lennon was dominant. However, when Liam Og McGovern added a point DIT still went in at the break with a three-point lead.

The second half was greeted by a snow shower, yet despite playing against the wind, DIT pointed through Kieran Bergin. Cillian Egan kept DCU's hopes alive, but DIT held on, McGrath and McGovern sealing the win.
