Kilkenny CBS celebrated on the double after making the most of their momentum in Thomastown.
The match also counted as the Leinster League final, so CBS took that crown, and also the ticket into the Leinster final against city rivals, St Kieran's College, which could be played this weekend.
Good Counsel College (New Ross) wasted chances early in the second half and the misses were costly as they began to lose touch during the third quarter when an interval deficit of three points swelled to double that amount.
With the divide at 1-10 to 0-7, Good Counsel had a defender red-carded, and it was all over for them after that.
The early exchanges were close, and three times during the opening 18 minutes the scores were level.
Kilkenny CBS hit the front with a long-range point from defender Robbie Fitzpatrick and Paddy Cahill doubled the advantage before Luke Scanlon bagged a goal.
That score was the difference between the teams at half-time, as CBS led by 1-6 to 0-6.
Good Counsel had the opening score of the new half from John Walsh, but while they missed three chances in the minutes that followed, Kilkenny tacked on points through Scanlon, Kevin Kenny, Niall Mullins and Kenny again to take a firm grip on the game.
