Antrim produced a solid second-half performance at Casement Park to just get the better of Carlow.
They winners faced the second half trailing by 1-4 to 0-4, Carlow's goal the result of the sliothar slipping out of Ciaran Hamill's grasp from a dropping shot.
The Antrim defence got to grips completely with the task in hand and confined the opposition to just two second-half points.
The hosts came more alive and the introduction of Karl Stewart to midfield helped greatly in that department, with Neil McManus tapped over the winner three minutes from time.
