AS PART of RTÉ's contribution to the centenary celebrations of Cumann Camógaíochta na nGael it has been confirmed that this year's All-Ireland senior camogie championship semi-finals will be transmitted live for the very first time.

President of Cumann CamógaÍochta na nGael Miriam O'Callaghan reacted very favourably to the news.

"This is most definitely a step in the right direction for us as we celebrate our hundredth birthday," she said.

It wasn't until the mid nineties that the All-Ireland senior final received live coverage for the first time and since then a much wider audience has been reached.

Last year's viewing figures for the All-Ireland senior final reached an all-time high of almost 250,000.

Without a doubt the live coverage of these matches will go a long way to raise the profile of the game and with interest in the centenary celebrations already building the attendance is expected to be the biggest ever at this year's semi-finals.
