Rowney guides Laois through

Laois 1-24
DIT 2-13

A goal midway through the second half from full-forward John Rowney ensured Laois set up a semi-final meeting with Kilkenny.

The Cats will certainly provide stronger opposition for Laois at the weekend, but the O'Moore County impressed in the final 15 minutes to finally put away the stubborn challenge by DIT.

Laois were made to work hard by the battling students who kept within range of the hosts after two goals from Declan O'Dwyer; his second an excellent effort as he blasted low and hard past helpless Laois goalkeeper Eoin Reilly.

But the winners regrouped, with Limerick IT student Willie Hyland sending over four late scores to steady the ship for Laois and set up a meeting with Brian Cody's outfit.
