Rogerson drives Four roads to title

Four Roads 1-12 Padraig Pearses 1-9 ROSCOMMON SHC FINAL

Four Roads completed five-in-a-row as they overcame a gutsy Padraig Pearses in a replay in Athleague.

The defending champions' historic bid looked to have come unstuck when Michael Donoghue's goal within a minute of the restart pushed Pearses four points clear. But by the time losers scored again in the 52nd minute, the Tisrara men had catapulted themselves into a two-point advantage.

The opening half belonged to Pearses, but they failed to make their dominance count on the scoreboard and went in at the break with just a single-point advantage.

Donoghue's green flag looked to have put them in the driving seat, but, inspired by Enda Rogerson's 42nd- minute goal, Four Roads wrested back the initiative and Man of the Match Rogerson scored the final free to confirm his side as champions.
