Red-hot Fitzgerald secures hat-trick as Lilywhites cruise past Armagh

KILDARE 5-21
ARMAGH 2-14

A first-half tour de force from Kildare set up the easiest of wins for the Lilywhites in the first round at Newbridge on Saturday afternoon.

Two goals from the impressive Martin Fitzgerald and a scrambled effort from David Kennedy put Kildare in command and gave them a 3-13 to 1-6 advantage heading into the half-time break.

However, Armagh fought back after the interval with a second goal but Kildare finished in style with a third goal from Fitzgerald and a tap-in from Paddy Moloney to put the seal on the victory.
