Quinn on song

Galway 2-14
Dublin 1-10

Francis Mooney

Niall Quinn and Bernard Burke scored the goals that sent Galway through to a clash with Tipperary.

Dublin got off to a flyer with a David Quinn goal in the fourth minute, finished from close range after goalkeeper Finn McGarry could only parry Liam Rushe's long delivery. But less than two minutes later, Niall Quinn blasted a penalty to the net after Richie Cummins was brought down as the Connacht champions took a narrow 1-6 to 1-5 lead into the interval.

They struck another important blow 10 minutes into the second half when Quinn turned provider to send substitute Bernard Burke in for a well-taken goal, as Dublin's challenge fizzled out.
