Quinlan points way for Fergal's
St Fergal's 0-18 Colaiste Mhuire 1-12
St Fergal's of Rathdowney booked their place in the final with a three-point win over Colaiste Mhuire, Johnstown in an incident-packed game.
The Laois school led by two points at half-time in normal time, with Johnstown having been reduced to 14 men after corner-forward Brian Webster was red-carded for an off-the-ball incident.
St Fergal's maintained this lead for most of the second half, with Daire Quinlan hitting the target time and again from placed balls. In a dramatic finish, however, Mark Webster pointed a free for Johnstown six minutes into added-time to level the scores.
Johnstown began extra-time with 15 players on the pitch, but that lasted a little over two minutes as corner-back Eoin Lyons was shown a second yellow card.
Rathdowney then scored four points without reply and the game all but ended as a contest when Johnstown substitute Kevin Sweeney was shown yellow twice in the space of a minute to reduce his side to 13 players.
