O'Mara drives rescue mission

Westmeath 4-24, Donegal 3-15

Westmeath overcame a first-half scare to beat Donegal in Ballinamore.

Excellent free-taking from Sean McVeigh and three fine goals (including two great finishes from Ciaran Mathewson) had Donegal deservedly ahead by 3-10 to 1-14 at the break.

However, with half-time substitutes Tommy Doyle and Cathal Scally making instant impacts, Westmeath took control and goals from Barry O'Mara and Killian Murphy put them ahead.

Donegal's fate was effectively sealed in the 46th minute when corner-back Dara Grant was sent off after being shown his second yellow card.
