TEN POINTS from outstanding right half-forward John Michael O'Callaghan helped Clonakilty Community College to All-Ireland Vocational Schools SHC 'B' honours at a sun-kissed Cahir yesterday.
Despite having to line out without their captain, Rory O'Sullivan, who failed to recover from an elbow injury he picked up with the Cork U-21 football team, the west Cork side held out for the win.
They had previously fallen at the same stage in an extra-time defeat in 2007.
Colaiste Naomh Cormac, who were also seeking their first All-Ireland victory at this level, were heavily reliant on the excellent free-taking of Thomas Geraghty, who was Kilmormac's main threat. He accounted for all but four points of their tally.
The South Offaly school played with the strong breeze in the opening half but failed to capitalise on it and going in level at the break 1-4 to 0-7 proved to be insufficient.
And while Naomh Cormac were competitive right to the end, they were left to rue their inaccurate shooting early on.
