O'Brien goal seals victory for Ardscoil

ArdScoil Ris 2-15 Castletroy Col 1-7
Dr Harty Cup quarter-finals

Champions for the last two seasons, Ardscoil Ris proved best in this all-Limerick affair at Bruff yesterday.

However, they were given an early fright by Castletroy College, who had the first two points of the game through Killian Enright (free) and Gearoid Hegarty and were still in front by a couple of points, 0-4 to 0-2 after 16 minutes.

Any notion that Ardscoil would race to a convincing win were firmly put on hold, but a goal by Jack Kelleher eased worries for the champions. This came after 22 minutes and edged them in front for the first time. They went on to lead by 1-4 to 0-5 at the break.

A superbly struck goal from a penalty by Ed Doyle three minutes into the second half had Castletroy back in front, but a point by Ronan Lynch made it all square at 1-5 each.

Enright nudged Castletroy back into the lead after 38 minutes, but, from then on, Ardscoil took control and once they added a second goal, a superb effort by Kevin O'Brien, the game was as good as over with 10 minutes remaining.

DLS waterford 2-12

Midleton CBS 0-7

An immaculate display of accuracy from Darragh Flynn powered De La Salle Waterford to a comfortable victory at Cappoquin.

Last year's county minor scored 0-12 of their winning total as they set up a semi-final meeting with Colaisti na nDeise

De La Salle seized control on six minutes when Tom Mullally pounced to fire a low ground stroke to the net after Dessie Hutchinson's shot was saved.

That goal, and five points from the stick of Flynn, established a healthy 1-5 to 0-1 lead after the opening quarter, and they went on to lead 1-7 to 0-6 at half-time.

Flynn continued his scoring spree on the resumption, and De La Salle closed the deal when sub Conor Sheehan rattled the net with four minutes remaining.
