O'Brien and Cagney double-act decisive as Charleville cruise to provincial crown

Charleville 3-15 Cappamore 2-8

Charleville secured the provincial title yesterday after a tremendous battle with Limerick's Cappamore in Mallow.

The Corkmen were simply sensational as they brushed aside the challenge of the highly fancied Shannon-siders with a supreme second-half performance.

Wing-forwards James O'Brien and Andrew Cagney did huge damage, bagging 2-6 between them, while centre-forward Derry Murphy also grabbed a goal.

Cappamore were well in the contest up to the last 15 minutes and even went in at the break level at 1-7 to 1-7, their main threat Tommie O'Donoghue posting an impressive 1-3.
