Murphy's brace the difference

Louth 3-9
Roscommon 1-14

Goals either side of half-time from Man of the Match Diarmuid Murphy inspired Louth to a shock win over Roscommon in Dundalk.

A first-half injury-time strike from Murphy put Louth five up at the break, 1-8 to 0-6.

Roscommon pulled a point back through Declan Nolan after the restart, but a 20-minute break -- due to an injury to Gary Fallon -- seemed to halt the visitors' momentum and it was Louth who resumed with a crucial second goal, as Murphy fired home his second.

Roscommon looked like they might force their way back into it when John Coyne netted 10 minutes into injury-time.

There was a still a further 10 minutes to play, but the westerners only managed two more points as Louth held on for a surprise win.
