Mullane euphoria highlights club's place in players' hearts

By Martin Breheny

Wednesday November 12 2008

JOHN Mullane's description of last Sunday being "the best day of my hurling life" proved yet again the special place the club holds in GAA players' lives.

Mullane had captained De La Salle to their first Waterford senior hurling title and immediately placed the achievement ahead of anything he had enjoyed with the county.

De La Salle head into the Munster semi-final against Sarsfields (Cork) next Sunday, which means that, irrespective of who wins, there will be new faces in the final.

Sarsfields won the Cork title for the first time in 51 years this season and, of course, back in 1957 there were no provincial or All-Ireland club championships.
