McNaughton treble sees off spirited Tyrone

Armagh 3-20
Tyrone 2-9

Despite a spirited display by outsiders Tyrone, understrength Armagh coasted to victory in Saturday's Round 2 clash at Casement Park.

A hat-trick of goals by Cushendall-born Brian McNaughton wrecked any hopes that Tyrone might pull off a surprise or even get close to their opponents.

Armagh stormed off to be 0-8 to 0-0 ahead after 15 minutes and McNaughton had grabbed two goals by the 30th minute. The favourites were 2-14 up at half-time and Conor Grogan skied a Tyrone penalty over the bar on the whistle.

Armagh stand-in full-back Nathan Curry was dismissed for a second yellow card on 45 minutes, but it didn't really make a big difference to Armagh's dominance.

A Grogan goal for the Red Hands in the 56th minute was immediately answered by McNaughton as he completed his hat-trick.
