McGrath's brace secures crown for Royals
Meath 2-12 Roscommon 0-10
A brace of well-taken goals from left half-forward Willie McGrath proved to be the main difference between the teams as Meath defeated Roscommon.
The teams were tied on four occasions in a ding-dong opening 25 minutes before McGrath struck for a terrific individual goal approaching half-time, leaving the Royal County, for whom Ciaran Fitzsimons was an inspiring captain at midfield, ahead by 1-6 to 0-6 at the break.
Within five minutes of the restart, Meath had doubled their lead courtesy of three unanswered points, but Roscommon clawed their way back with some fine free-taking from corner-forward Robbie Fallon and goalkeeper Noel Fallon.
However, a cleverly flicked goal in the 49th minute from McGrath put some daylight between the teams.
