McGrath vents ticket fury
WATERFORD selector Ken McGrath has labelled ticket prices for the Munster SHC semi-final clash between the Deise and Clare on Sunday week as "crazy".
The GAA have a number of ticketing initiatives in place but a single stand ticket for the Thurles showdown is priced at €30.
With that in mind. McGrath, who was forced to close down his sports shop due to the recession, wants the Munster Council to take another look at their pricing.
"I think it's crazy. Looking at my own position, we had a shop for four or five years and it went last year. There are thousands of people like me in Waterford and I think asking someone to pay €30 for a ticket is crazy.
"That price is out of too many supporters' reach -- especially you want to bring a couple of kids along to the match," added McGrath, who insists that "Waterford city is on its knees".
"If (the money) was there, people would have no problem spending it but, if it's a matter of buying a ticket or getting something that you need for your house, you're going to get something for your house.
"I don't really know if people understand how bad it is around the country at times, especially in our own place -- we've been hit very hard."
