Monday September 28 2009
RESURGENT Dungannon ended Carrickmore Eire Og's bid for a fourth successive title at Greencastle yesterday.
Cathal McErlean hit the only goal of the game after 22 minutes, helping the Eoghain Ruadh to a 1-8 to 0-3 interval lead.
Eire Og struggled to get into the game in the second half, and left it too late to produce a flourish which saw Justin Kelly convert a string of frees.
Only two of the game's 20 points came from play, with Dungannon pair David Lavery and McErlean sharing nine converted frees.
Both sides finished with 14 men when, two minutes into the second half, Carrickmore full-back Damian Maguire received a second yellow and Dungannon's Brian McGilloway was shown a straight red.
