McCann strike proves key

ANTRIM 2-20 DERRY 1-12

After a miserable year for Antrim hurling, the U-21s managed to restore a little pride with this rout in Armagh last night.

The seniors will know that there is talent is on its way, particularly up front, after Conor McCann and Stephen Smith scored 2-6 between them in an easy victory.

Captain McCann grabbed the all-important second goal in the 19th minute, when he beat two defenders before finding the net to reassert Antrim's dominance.

They went on to outscore the Oak Leafers by 1-4 to 0-2 in the 10 minutes before half-time to lead by 2-10 to 1-8 at the interval -- and that was that for the losers.
