EVEN without talisman Keith Higgins, who is on holidays, Mayo were too slick for Fingal at McHale Park, where the visitors blew whatever chance they had by shooting eight second-half wides.

Mayo dominated the first half and led 1-10 to 0-4 at the break, the goal coming after just two minutes when Niall Murphy's 30-yard shot was deflected into the net.

Mayo were generally in control thereafter, with Kenny Feeney deadly from frees.
