Mannion on double

Banagher 3-10
Col Mhuire 2-9

Banagher stood firm to claim another provincial crown after overcoming 14-man Colaiste Mhuire, Johnstown, in Portlaoise on Saturday.

The dismissal of Johnstown centre-back Brendan Murphy on 14 minutes proved to be the pivotal moment -- his sending off resulted in a 21-yard free which Banagher's Trevor Moran drove into the net.

Having not had a single wide in the first half, Banagher went on to hit 10 second-half wides, giving hope to their opponents. However, two opportunist goals from Ethan Mannion eventually saw Banagher safely over the line.

Johnstown's Shane Donnelly scored a goal in the 54th minute to give a glimmer of hope, and although William Brennan also raised the green flag with a 21-yard free with the last puck of the game, it was not enough.
