Mahony fires up Louth

A SUPERB four-goal blitz in the first half put Louth well on their way to victory in Dundalk.
A succession of scores had the hosts six points ahead even before David Mahony kicked the sliotar to the net in the 14th minute.
A further eight minutes had elapsed before Gary Cadden stroked over a free for Sligo, but this was their only score of the first half and Mahony immediately teed up David Kettle for a second Louth major, before two further goals in stoppage-time from Shane Maguire and Mahony had the Reds 4-9 to 0-1 ahead at half-time.
By the 53rd minute the 20-point gap remained as the first six points of the new half were shared. However, three points from play by midfielder Shane Callan pushed Louth on and they progress to face Donegal in the second-round qualifiers.
