The midfield pairing of Michael Lane and Clement Cunniffe was the dominant factor in Leitrim's comprehensive victory over a poor Cavan team at windswept Ballinamore. Leitrim were almost out of sight by the interval, at which point they led 2-9 to 0-3.
And, although Cavan did rally briefly early in the second half, it was soon business as usual, with the third Leitrim goal coming in the 40th minute from Dermot Kennedy.
