Lawlor, Mulry see Roads home

A couple of quick-fire goals around the 40th minute turned this evenly-matched contest in Four Roads' favour.

Athleague led by three points at the interval, 0-13 to 1-7. Full-forward Gary Fallon was in superb form, hitting six points in the first-half and 0-11 overall. The defending champions then pummelled Athleague during a blistering third quarter where they outscored them by 2-6 to 0-3. The goals, which were less than 60 seconds apart, were scored by Jamie Lawlor and Ray Mulry. Athleague rallied over the closing quarter, but were unable to bridge the gap.
