Larkin blow for Kilkenny
KILKENNY'S hopes of making an impressive start to their National League title defence have suffered a blow.
Cats' boss Brian Cody is unlikely to be able to call on the services of ace attacker Eoin Larkin until well into the spring campaign.
Larkin sustained a serious hip injury during James Stephens' run in the club championship, and he is only gradually working his way back to fitness.
"I'd say that we will be without Eoin for the early part of the league," explained team selector Martin Fogarty, whose side open their Walsh Cup campaign on Sunday week away to either DIT or Offaly.
"So far, Eoin is only able to do a bit of light training on his own, and it will be some time before he will be able to return to full training with the rest of the lads," added Fogarty.
