Laois on upward curve

Cyril Farrell

LAOIS will be cursing their luck that they didn't draw Clare at home and have the chance to subject them to the same treatment that caused Galway so many problems. Instead, Seamus Plunkett must take his team to Ennis, where their championship adventure, which has been a lot more exciting than many had envisaged, is likely to end.

Clare lost pretty heavily to Cork two weeks ago, having missed several goal chances. They will have learned a lot from that experience and could yet find themselves in Croke Park in August.

They will win this evening and, hopefully, Laois will do well enough to leave them looking back on this year with a sense that the best is yet come.
