Kittens claim All-Ireland club hat-trick

ST LACHTAIN'S (Kilkenny) 1-5 O'DON. ROSSA (Antrim) 1-3 FRESHFORD side St Lachtain's were in paradise yesterday as they collected their third All-Ireland Club senior camogie title in a row at O'Moore Park, Portlaoise.

A goal from player of the match Marie O'Connor just before half-time proved crucial, even though Orla McColl replied in kind, and trailing by only a point at the break, the Kilkenny team looked the likelier winners.

They kept their Antrim rivals scoreless in the second half and points from All Star Imelda Kennedy, Sinéad Connery and Anne Dalton sealed the win.

It took 15 minutes for the first score, courtesy of Rossa's Eileen Fitzpatrick. Jane Adams hit back with two pointed frees, but O'Connor replied with a point, followed by that goal when she sneaked in unhindered behind the Rossa's defence.

McColl buried to the net to give Jim Nelson's side a 1-3 to 1-2 interval advantage but Freshford added two points in the second-half to seal the victory.
