NHL Division 1A final

Kilkenny 2-17 Tipperary 0-20

Michael Fennelly (right) produces a powerhouse display, grabbing 2-3 from centre-forward to cap a remarkable turnaround in Kilkenny's spring.

Having lost the first two games in a very competitive Division 1A, a league title looked beyond them but they recover to win the first league final played in Nowlan Park in 47 years and rack up a 16th title for the county.

Leinster SHC quarter-final

Kilkenny 0-26

Offaly 4-9

Manager Brian Cody returns to training in the build-up to this game but a setback in his recovery means Henry Shefflin's record of starting every championship match in the Cody era ends.

An injury to Fennelly picked up on club duty is another body blow in the build-up. Jackie Tyrrell is forced off with a quad injury in the opening minutes and, despite running out clear winners, the concession of four goals gives life to the suggestion that the Cats are vulnerable.

SCORERS – Kilkenny: E Larkin 0-11 (10fs, 1 '65'), R Power 0-4 (1f), R Hogan 0-3, T Walsh, B Hogan, L Ryan, TJ Reid, C Fennelly, A Fogarty, W Walsh, M Ruth 0-1 each. Offaly: J Bergin 2-0, C Egan 1-2, S Dooley 0-5 (4fs, 1 '65'), D Currams 1-0, C McDonald, B Carroll 0-1 each.

Kilkenny 0-16

Dublin finish the job they started the previous weekend. Richie Power is sent off late on and the Cats lose to the Dubs for the first time in the championship since 1942. Kilkenny manage just five points from play as they struggle in the continuing absence of Fennelly and Shefflin.

All-Ireland SHC Phase 3 Qualifier

Kilkenny 1-22

Waterford 2-16

The Cats need extra-time to get over the Deise but things seem to be looking up as Fennelly makes his return, while Shefflin manages half an hour before being withdrawn at the end of normal time.

Matthew Ruth looks to have won it for the Cats with a late point but referee James Owens (above) had called time. Both Aidan Fogarty and Walter Walsh are withdrawn before being introduced again in extra-time as they secure a date with Cork.

Scorers – Kilkenny: R Power 1-5 (1-0 pen, 4fs), R Hogan 0-5, C Fennelly, E Larkin (3fs) 0-4 each, A Fogarty 0-2, M Fennelly, M Ruth 0-1 each. Waterford: R Barry 1-3, J Dillon 1-2 (0-1f), D Fives, K Moran 0-3 each, S Prendergast, J Nagle (f), J Barron, R Foley, B O'Sullivan 0-1 each.

All-Ireland SHC quarter-final

Cork 0-19

Kilkenny 0-14

Defeat means Kilkenny don't reach the All-Ireland semi-final for the first time since 1996 and starts the speculation on the future on a host of Kilkenny greats.

Shefflin's dismissal on two yellow cards means his season, and possibly his inter-county career, ends on a sour note. And having suffered his first championship defeat as a manager at the hands of Jimmy Barry-Murphy, has the Cork man also inflicted the last on the Kilkenny maestro?

SCORERS – Cork: P Horgan 0-11 (8fs), C Lehane, P Cronin 0-2 each, L O'Farrell, S Harnedy, J Coughlan, S Moylan 0-1 each.

Kilkenny: E Larkin 0-6 (3fs, 1'65'), R Power (1f), M Fennelly 0-2 each, P Murphy, T Walsh, A Fogarty, W Walsh 0-1 each.
