Kenny's goal crucial

Kilkenny CBS 1-12
Good Counsel 1-9

A brilliantly taken 47th-minute goal by Kevin Kenny, which earned his side a 1-10 to 1-5 lead, put Kilkenny CBS on the road to a hard-earned win over Good Counsel (Wexford) in Kilkenny yesterday.

The losers were impressive in the first half and enjoyed an ideal start when Mark Mansfield goaled in the second minute and, with tall full-forward Jack Guiney going well, they led 1-4 to 0-3 at half-time.

A hat-trick of points within eight minutes of the restart from Danny Lenihan brought the CBS right back into the game. They caught up seconds later when star player Eoin McGrath pointed.

They tacked on points from Mason Clifford and Lenihan before Kenny got through for the goal that wrapped up a win for CBS in their first outing.
