GMIT were the hungrier side as they reeled off some fine scores to put the game beyond Roscommon's reach before the interval.
A flurry of points put the students into a 0-12 to 0-2 lead approaching the break, and any hopes of a second-half revival by the Rossies were quashed on the stroke of half-time when Conor Kennedy found the net from close range, after Padraig Dolan had saved Conor O'Donnell's effort.
Further goals from O'Donnell and Shane Lawless completed the rout.
