Kavanagh shines in Carlow cruise

A blistering start, which saw them lead 2-6 to 0-0 after 10 minutes, provided the springboard for Carlow's thrashing of Wicklow at Dr Cullen Park.

Ross Smithers had Carlow ahead within 20 seconds and they went on to dominate the half, leading at the break by 2-10 to 0-2, with Wicklow's first point coming on 27 minutes from Anthony Byrne.

The second half was also a stroll for Carlow, who remained completely in control of the contest despite having Michael O'Grady sent off for a second yellow-card offence.

Man of the match Marty Kavanagh put the cherry on the cake when bagging Carlow's third goal on 53 minutes and the St Mullins clubman finished with an impressive tally of 1-8.
