How times have changed

Leinster are expecting this summer's hurling championship to be their best for many years. It was a different scenario for much of the last decade -- as is reflected in excerpts from annual reports.
"In Leinster, the senior hurling championship is practically extinct. The recent domination by Kilkenny is only part of the reason. There is virtually no incentive for any of our other counties -- apart from local pride -- to concentrate on anything, but the qualifier and All-Ireland series."
"As the years go by, it becomes more and more difficult to put a positive spin on a review of the Leinster senior hurling championship."
"Much has been written and spoken about the current ill-health of the Leinster SHC and it is difficult to disagree with the negative vibes. Kilkenny are way ahead of everybody else, but the hitherto staunch resistance of Offaly, Dublin and Laois seems to have disintegrated."
